Welcome to 123ICT’s Create an E-Book Competition for 2022 We thought it would be really good if our early spring term competition was to create an e-book as this would allow entrants to share their e-books in school during any literacy events that you may have planned to coincide with World Book Day, on Thursday the 3rd of March.
The competition is divided into two categories:
KS1. Simple Story or Factual E-Book. To create an illustrated fiction or non-fiction e-book, which can be a simple story created by them, the retelling of a traditional story, or a simple factual book of their interest. The entries can be created and submitted using a variety of computer software and iPad applications.
KS2. Fiction or Non-Fiction E-Book. The KS2 e-book can be fiction, or non-fiction. It can have added sound and animation and it can be written for a KS1 audience, or for KS2 consumption.
In addition to the obvious literacy opportunities that this competition will undoubtedly create, it will also allow the children the chance to practise and improve upon their word processing and desktop publishing skills. This has been a highly successful competition in the past and each of the entries that we have received in our previous years competitions have been really outstanding and a great example of how to use technology to support Literacy in schools; we really hope that this year the competition will prove to be equally as successful.
The closing date for submitting entries to the competition is the end of the first half of the Spring Term.
Awards and Prizes
This is the third of our competitions for this academic year and it will attract points towards our well-received ‘123ICT Computin
The submitting schools for each competition will be awarded the following league points:
First Place – 60 Points
Second Place – 40 Points
Third Place – 20 Points
In addition, each school that enters the competition will be awarded 10 points and the first, second and third places will also receive certificates. The winning submission for each competition will also attract a £10.00 book token for the successful entrant.
We will maintain and publish the league table throughout the year and at the end of the year, we will present, in addition to the Computing Champions League Winner’s Trophy, a very desirable prize to the winning school. The runner-up school will also receive an excellent prize and runners-up trophy. The prizes are currently being sought from our suppliers and full details will be announced on our competitions blog towards the middle of the academic year.
