Olympics activities that are suitable for children are offered on many websites. Due to COVID, this year’s Olympic Games are like none that have gone before, if they even happen! They may still be cancelled, or perhaps spectating will not be allowed. However, getting ready for this summer’s Olympics could offer some fun activities as we come towards the end of term.
TeachIt Primary offer a pack of 12 Olympic activities suitable for Years 3 – 6, including: a memory game, logo making, poem, explanation writing and a sorting exercise, which could perhaps be an ICT branching type of activity.
Activity Village has recipes, worksheets, story starters, crafts, idea for holding a school Olympics and more. There are pages of information about every Olympic sport – children may enjoy making a mini book about their favourite!
The Chaos and Clutter website has lots of activities and crafts on the Olympic theme gathered from all round the web. I love the salt dough Olympic medals! Make them ready for sports day and develop an Olympic torch replay or obstacle course for a mini games.
A bit of maths fun is to graph the Olympic rings
This page is supposed to be a scavenger hunt – but I don’t see how that works, however, it has a great set of Olympic cards which may come in useful for memory games etc.
