What makes the Earth Angry? This is a great question to start a project on extreme Earth, especially when considering earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, tsunamis etc. Lots of schools have shared planning sheets full of ideas to inspire:
Eldersfield School, in Worcestershire, has shared a whole set of ideas for children to study at home during lockdown. The postcard from the top of Mount Everest is interesting.
Dr South’s School shares a year 6 overview planning sheet looking at: climate, temperature, weather, tornados, the water cycle, etc. There is lots in this to think about when planning to carry out an Extreme Earth project and it may be a useful starting point.
Blackrock Community Primary School share year 6 planning covering Earthquakes and Volcanoes with a load of writing activity ideas, such as planning a disaster preparation and an Island Paradise.
St Joseph’s School, in Poole, shares this Year 3 Medium Term Plan leading to a poster display.
Hazlewood schools share a Year 3 Extreme Earth Medium Term Planning Sheet – this is based around a trip to the Science Museum and going through the Earthquake experience.
