Whiteboard Fi is a free online whiteboard that is a completely different type to Google Jamboard, which I covered in a previous post and is brilliant for allowing children to work together on one whiteboard, or copy it for each child to have their own. With Whiteboard Fi every child can have their own whiteboard but the teacher can see them all at the same time.
“Whiteboard.fi is a simple tool that can be used instantly. Create a class and let your students join, using a link, room code or QR code.
Everyone will get a digital whiteboard, where they can draw, write text, make notations on images, add math equations, and more!
You as a teacher see all your students’ whiteboards in real time, so you can follow their progress, while the students only see their own whiteboard and the teacher’s.
Whiteboard.fi is an instant formative assessment tool for your classroom, providing you with live feedback and immediate overview over your students.
Engage your whole class, include every student and let everybody answer – including the shy students or students who normally wouldn’t bother to answer!” (Whiteboard.fi)
Whiteboard.fi is used through making a sort of online classroom where children enter and have a board each – the free version classrooms are temporary and need no registration, just open one and use it; once you have finished, it is destroyed. The paid for version offers a lot more though. You can upload pdfs for children to annotate so comprehension exercises and fill the gap tasks work well. Also, maths problems can be written out and children can fill them in online.
Another really useful thing about Whiteboard Fi is that it can be used on mobile devices. It really doesn’t matter whether children are on computers, tablets or phones when working at home.
