Virtual Summer Camp is being provided by Wide Open School, a consortium of educational parties working together. It will comprise of educational experiences and fun activities for the summer. There are new themes being introduced every week.
“We hope that Wide Open School helps make learning from home an experience that inspires kids, supports teachers, relieves families, and restores community.
This site was built in a matter of days on a shared vision. We plan to keep building until things get back to normal. A group of more than 25 organizations came together and raised their hands to help, and many more are joining on a daily basis. Watch for new features and content partners frequently.” (Wide Open Schools)
This week’s offering is Space, Exploring and experiments.
The project combines the best online learning experiences for kids, as far as possible as children do not have to log in to preserve privacy. The activities are curated by the editors at Common Sense. “There is so much good happening, and we are here to gather great stuff and organize it so teachers and families can easily find it and plan each day. “ (Common Sense)
The resources are divided into three different levels, approximately: EYFS, KS1 and KS2. There are resources covering: maths, art, music, just for fun activities, etc, providing a wide curriculum to keep children and their families interested.
To access the resources you need a free Common sense Media account. Common Sense Media have a listing of Summer Camps, both free and paid for. If the Virtual Summer Camp does not fit what you need, why not have a look at one of the others?
