Home learning packs are being offered again by Plazoom. These look like really useful resources for families whilst everyone is in lockdown.
An email that I received this morning informed of me the following:
“Hello! Well, the summer term 🌞 is properly underway now – and instead of SATs practice, PTA fêtes and the prospect of a leavers’ production ahead, we’re looking at a continued, undefined period of home learning and remote teaching (not to mention, of course, the support for vulnerable and keyworkers’ children that continues to take place in schools everywhere 💙).
To help parents and teachers with their planning during this challenging time, we’ve been producing weekly home learning packs for KS1 and KS2 ✍️ – each providing five mornings’ worth of cross-curricular work with a literacy focus. Our latest set focuses on animals, with a nod to geography and science as well as reading, writing and grammar… take a look, and download, below!” (Plazoom)
The KS1 Pack – Animals Around the World. This home learning pack is designed for children in Years 1 and 2 (ages 5-7) to complete, with some adult support where possible, over a week, based around the topic of Animals Around the World. It offers a range of activities covering reading, writing, science, geography and P.E. objectives. The pack includes:
- The Hare and the Tortoise reading practice
- Cartoon template
- Animals of the World worksheet
- Animal Classification cards
- Animal Alphabet worksheet
- Animal movement template
- Themed writing paper
The KS2 Pack – Animals and their Habitats. This pack is designed for children in Years 3-6 (ages 8-11) to complete, with some adult support where possible, over a week and is based around the topic of Animals and their Habitats. It offers a range of activities covering reading, writing, science and geography, with additional ideas including music and art. The pack includes:
- Reading practice: year 3/4 The Ant and the Pigeon
- Reading practice: year 5/6 The Fox and the Stork
- Cartoon template
- Habitats activity
- Design a Zoo activity
- Animal Alphabet worksheet
These home learning packs should be really helpful – if everyone in the class was encouraged to do at least some of a pack, it could make a useful basis in order to start work altogether again once the lockdown is over.
