Wide Open SchoolWide Open School is a site which has been built in a matter of days in response to a shared vision by many leading educational companies in the UK.

It aims to “ make learning from home an experience that inspires kids, supports teachers, relieves families, and restores community.” (Wide Open School)

A group of more than 25 organizations got together to create this resource.

Wide Open School is a free collection of the best online learning experiences for kids curated by the editors at Common Sense. There is so much good happening, and we are here to gather great stuff and organize it so teachers and families can easily find it and plan each day.

This crisis has reminded us of our deep appreciation for the work teachers do every day in their classrooms. At Wide Open School, we celebrate teachers—and parents—as they take on this new challenge. We’ll discover and highlight teachers who are figuring out how to light up an online classroom and invite them to share their tips and wisdom to help blend home and school.” (Wide Open School)

Many of the resources shared can be  completed offline and on smartphones or tablets offering a fair amount of choice for families with children under the age or 12, especially where parents are working from home and need access to a family computer much of the time.

Parents can access the site as well as schools.
