Pearson are offering their primary curricular programs free for use during the lockdown period. Some of these may well help individual teachers or whole schools plan an educational program for their children during the summer term.
“If you have concerns around how to support teaching and learning during school closure, as a result of Coronavirus (COVID-19), we are providing free access* to some of our digital primary resources, which can be accessed in school or at home.” (Pearson)
It is quite likely that some of these books are already available for use in schools so children will already know them. Heinemann Maths, Abacus Maths, The Maths Factor and School Jam are offered, as well as Grammar and Spelling Bug, Power English Writing and Wordsmith. Science Bug is available for science and Bug Club Phonics, Rapid Reaching and various others cover basic literacy, maths and science so could be very useful to schools that are already using any of those schemes.
Summer term 2020 may well turn out to be the only term in the history of the UK where schools remained closed! One for the history books. If children are to keep moving forward a little forward planning and help from various publishing houses may indeed be useful.
