Stop, Breathe and Think is a mindfulness app that, in these days of teacher stress, may be really useful to many people, not only teachers but all professionals everywhere. Stop, Breathe and Think for Educators offer a free lifetime premium membership. Simply, follow the link and click on Educators. You then complete the form provided as best as you can (it is designed for the US school system) and It will send you an email back to confirm subscription. Even though I put retired in the school section, it allowed me to register.
To do the meditation etc, you need to download the app, which is only for iOS at the moment, I believe an Android version is coming soon. The app is free but there are in-app purchases; however, I believe the free lifetime educator’s offer should give all those free – until I get my verification though I am not sure how that works! Information from the web page says:
“Meditation & mindfulness to help you build the emotional strength and confidence to handle life’s ups and downs. Stop, Breathe & Think, the app for daily meditation & mindfulness, has a unique approach that allows you to check in with your emotions, and then recommends short, guided meditations, yoga and acupressure videos, tuned to how you feel.”
The first thing a user does is go to a quick poll to see how they feel. A meditation time, exercises or information that is ideally suited to the needs of the user is then suggested. A user can spend as little as five minutes at a time on this app, it is not something that takes hours of your day!
There is also a Stop Breathe and Think app for children; however, that looks like it is more suited to home use than school use.
Along with the app there is a closed Facebook group where some teachers may be comfortable in finding support.
