Literacy WAGOLL, and just in case WAGOLL is not a familiar term see ‘How to teach ‘What a Good One Looks Like’ (plus 100+ model texts)’. The topic is covered very well in this Teachwire site but many of the model texts are provided by Plazoom and so many of them are paid-for resources; ideal if you have subscribed of course, but not so much if you don’t wish to pay!
However, there is another website offering free Wagoll resources: Literacy WAGOLL. These resources have been prepared by two English National Curriculum teachers who needed to have a place where good resources could be found quickly, so they created the collection. There are fiction texts, with free downloadable files under the following subjects:
- Adventure
- Animals
- Character Description
- Disaster
- Fantasy
- Flashbacks
- Myths and Legends
- Other Cultures
- Science Fiction
- Scripts and Plays
- Setting Descriptions
- Spooky Stories
- Traditional Takes
Non-Fiction Texts under the following:
- Biographies
- Compare and Contrast
- Debate
- Diaries and Blogs
- Explanation
- Information
- Instructions
- Job Descriptions and Applications
- Letters and emails
- Non-Chronological Reports
- Persuasive
- Reports and Recounts
- Reviews
- Speeches
Literacy WAGOLL also has more, including a poetry collection: “Create rhythm, imagery, and flow – soon high achieving writing is all they will know!”
