WaterAid UKWaterAid UK has updated resources for schools and, as the weather is exceptionally hot and dry, children are going to become aware of a water shortage here in this country. It would be an excellent time to consider the water problems worldwide.

The WaterAid resources website has resources available for both KS1 and KS2 as well as games, films, and songs suitable for children.

There is an Education Playlist of videos: “Welcome to WaterAid UK’s playlist: resources for schools!  On this playlist you will find a wide array of films that are suitable to show in classrooms to help students learn about the importance of water, sanitation and hygiene. A good starting point would be our main film, ‘A world of water!’ with the YouTuber Netty Plays. Further on, you will find some short character films from our work in the field to help children understand what life is like for those who don’t have access to clean water. We also have some fun animation films also!”

There is a new Harvest Appeal starting now with many free resources that can be requested as packs including:

  • Justine’s story
  • A presentation
  • Fundraising ideas etc.

There are many stories about children’s lives, children who walk miles every day to get water for the family, children who have no washing facilities and toilets; concepts that are very hard for our children to understand. These stories may help our children to learn not to waste water.
