CREST Awards – both Star and SuperStar challenges – have been designed for 5 to11 year olds with the aim of getting them to think like scientists and engineers. Children complete eight activities that relate to everyday experiences, with each activity taking between 45 minutes and one hour to complete.
All activities are mapped to the national curriculum and most involve outdoor exploration and learning, making it a great summer project for children to take part in. The STAR activities are for 5 – 7 year olds. Super STAR is for 7 – 11-year olds who enjoy a challenge so slightly better for upper juniors. NB Access to the program is heavily subsidised by the government but is still £1 per child!

“The activities are designed to be easy-to-run and low-cost. You don’t need to be a teacher, have a science background or have access to specialist equipment to run them. The packs contain helpful hints and tips for you to use, explaining the scientific themes and offering guidance on conversation topics for your children.” (Crest Awards)
