The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, in June 2022, will be celebrated with a four-day holiday and many local celebrations. Children will already have heard a little about it; but leading up to it, there are shared resources available to download from the Royal Collection Trust for Schools.

The extended bank holiday, from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June, will provide an opportunity for people and communities throughout the United Kingdom to come together to celebrate the unique milestone. The programme of events will include public events and community activities, as well as national moments of reflection on The Queen’s 70 years of service.

To help your school celebrate this important moment in history, a number of linked resources and activities have been created for you that can be accessed by the four themed sections below.” (Royal Collection Trust)

The resources cover:

  • Who is our queen?
  • What is the role of our queen?
  • What is a jubilee?
  • Take part in history and celebrate.

There are presentations, teacher notes, links for Royal Collection images, objects, and artworks.

These resources are designed to be flexible, depending on your requirements. The four sections could be used to form the basis of a large project across four weeks, with a different section covered over a length of time; or they could be used as standalone lessons. The PowerPoints could be used in the classroom, or as part of school assemblies” (https://www.rct.uk/discover/school-resources/school-resources-for-the-platinum-jubilee-2022)
