Watch Know Learn is a website where thousands of videos for use in education are listed and categorised.
“ The Vision behind WatchKnowLearn is simple:
To provide a world-class, online domain on which educators can store, categorize, and rate the best, K – 12 educational videos on the Internet today. And to make this service FREE so teachers, parents and students everywhere may have access to those videos.
To make this a reality, we invite teachers, instructors and educators to suggest videos for inclusion into our directory, and then to review, approve, and assign those videos into appropriate categories using a wiki framework and philosophy. The videos are the highest quality found on the Internet, cover all major educational topics from elementary to secondary schools (or age range 1 – 18), and are Kid Safe because they are vetted by teachers.” (WatchKnowLearn)
Watch Know Learn is currently probably the best place to look for educational videos. There is a slider where you can choose the lowest age to the highest age for a search on a specific subject. There is a massive range of topics for all aspects of the school curriculum, completely filterable by age, subject, and topics within each subject.
Doing an 8 – 11 search on the human body showed some really useful animations on the respiratory system, teeth, DNA, kidneys, and more – all showing and explaining appropriate vocabulary. If you search for the Water Cycle there are 32 videos in five subcategories.
When planning any topic, teachers may find it worthwhile to do a search on this site to see what could prove useful to their topic content.
