There is now an online Hogwarts school where children may join a Happy Potter based community.
“Hogwarts is Here (HiH) is the wizarding world’s favorite social network created by fans – for fans that enjoy reading books from Audible.com. Create a character and immerse yourself at Hogwarts and the Harry Potter universe with thousands of others by enrolling in realistic online Hogwarts courses, earning house points, meeting new friends in the common room and so much more.” (HiH)
Harry Potter fans from all over the world can enrol for free online classes at Hogwarts is Here. The website states that the Hogwarts School from the website has nothing to do with the Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling or Warner Bros. However, for children absolutely addicted to Harry Potter, it could be great fun. They, along with many other aspiring wizards and muggles can sign up. When they sign up, children receive an electronic owl acceptance letter and they can choose a course, choose a house and undertake activities laid out by the school, which can even be marked by the staff if required.
The courses are
- Astronomy
- Charms
- Defence against the Dark Arts
- Herbology
- History of Magic
- Magical Cookery
- Potions
- Transfiguration.
“Hogwarts is Here was created by Keith D. Cardin & Kimmi Cranes, and is operated by a die-hard team of volunteer Harry Potter fans that dedicate hours on a daily basis to keep an amazing Wizarding World experience going for thousands of fans.” (HiH)
There is a library where it looks as though current students write the books for others to read. The spell book at the top of this post is an example.
Hogwarts is Here is run like a Hogwarts School with house points, leader boards and dormitories, role play groups, forums and a magazine. For some older children I am sure this would be great fun. It does seem to be as safe as possible, I can’t get in without signing up and there is a code of conduct which students have to sign up to before they join.
