World Book Day 2018World Book Day (WBD) is here again! It is on  Thursday of this week – St David’s day the 1st March. In Wales, it’s a double celebration!

There are absolutely masses of resources available in the primary section of World Book Day Website Resources, even if you are not using any of them for WBD,  it may be worth downloading any that could be useful for you in the next few weeks. There are lesson plans to go with current books and films, such as Paddington, Rooftoppers, How to Train your Dragon and Wolf Brother.

The Primary Resource Pack (download below) gives an assembly plan, lesson plans. a quiz and a new facility to listen to stories. From Wednesday 12 pm, there are authors and illustrators giving talks to schools – these can be beamed right into your classroom. There are loads of ideas for things to do to and create stories for the event.

World Book Day

The inspiration section is brilliant, there is a set of 20 ideas covering reception to Year 6. There is a challenge sheet to be printed and filled in, as things are achieved. This could easily be a month’s homework!

There is a also quiz for children in all schools to take part in and try to beat last year’s total! KS1, and 2 Quizzes.

In addition, there are competitions and games. Even if you have completely planned your World Book Day activities, there is really useful stuff for literacy lessons throughout the year.
