Mash Club is Here! This was the announcement in the newsletter from Purple Mash this week!
“Mash Club is the computing club that puts children in charge of their learning, taking them on an after-school journey so creative they’ll never want to leave.
Children create everything from dragon-dodging wizards to dancing robots then blog about their designs across 8 self-guided sessions. They follow a simple guide for each session and cross out each step as they progress.”(2Simple Software) For more information click here.
Mash club is a pack of resources to aid teachers planning to run a coding after school club. It is a designed as an eight week block of computing lessons at the moment, but this is still being developed. There are a set of tutorials to start children off and when they achieve something, they can get badges. Children write blogs in 2Blog about what they have achieved in 2Code Gorilla Freecode. The club is designed to be led by children for children.
2Code is one of the newer Purple Mash resources, it teaches children coding skills. Just as with everything else in Purple Mash, there are video tutorials . The program leads children slowly through the skills then allows them to experiment until they have mastered the skill. Children work their way, in their own time, through the levels.
2Blog is a simple blogging program where teachers can set up class blogs for pupils.
