20 free literacy resources20 Free Literacy Resources, created by Pie Corbett, are being offered by Teach Primary. You do have to fill in your details to get them but there is nothing to pay. The resources are interesting, look good fun to use and they come under the three headings: Non-Fiction, Fiction and Poetry. There is a sodapdf PDF teacher’s sheet for each resource, explaining how to present it and also PowerPoint presentations to present to the class. Each set can be downloaded either individually or in a zip file of everything.

Non-Fiction. The Non-Fiction section asks pupils to explain things. The resources are designed to inspire inventive activities, write non-chronological reports and get pupils to put their point of view in an discussion.

Fiction. The Fiction section is designed to develop suspense in writing, particularly useful when coming up to Halloween. They are asked to invent close encounters and write mysterious stories. Each resource shared explains how to work with the story offered and encourage pupils to write their own version.

Poetry. The Poetry section is designed to inspire “children to be creative and express themselves with Pie Corbett’s poems.” This section aims to “set children’s minds in motion” provide exciting inspiring starting points for poems and enhance pupils’s creativity.
