Conversations about life onlineConversations about life online make the theme of the 2023 Safer Internet Day.

“Safer Internet Day 2023 will take place on the 7th of February 2023, with celebrations and learning based around the theme ‘Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online’.

Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, the celebration sees thousands of organisations get involved to promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.” https://saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/safer-internet-day-2023

Safer internet day has become an institution, not only here in the UK where it all started, but in about 170 countries worldwide as more and more people recognise both the benefits and the dangers of children being online, and access becoming more readily available to children as years go by.

The list of dangers grows longer each year. Help covering issues of sexual abuse, cyber flashing, gaming, misinformation, online bullying, online challenges, parental controls, pornography, reporting, sexting, and social media is available on the SID website.

There is now a huge wealth of school and classroom resources available as well as resources for parents, grandparents, carers, and many other childcare situations available if schools need to share information with any of the community. They can be found under the Guides and Resources drop-down menu.
