123HUB October News: As autumn comes upon us and the nights begin to draw in, the 123HUB aims to save you some valuable time and help you to find the right quality teaching resources. Our Featured Themes for October 2016 are the tremendous topic of Festivals and Celebrations’ and the extremely important subject of Online Safety.
Festivals and Celebrations. Autumn is upon us, the leaves will soon be falling and this month’s featured theme is the comprehensive and very relevant topic of Festivals and Celebrations. As you know, there are a considerable number of festivals and celebrations that take place in the autumn of each year. We have over 80 super themed websites on offer to help study these events. Collectively, the resources cover: Harvest Festival, Halloween, Bonfire Night, Diwali, Hanukkah, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Chinese Mid-Autumn (or Moon) Festival, Christmas and much more besides. Although Christmas will be covered as a separate theme in December, we thought that it might be good to also include some Christmas resources within this month’s theme to aid advance planning and craft supply orders.
Online Safety. Children start using computers from a very early age and are increasingly using the Internet more and more whether it is at home, in school, on their mobile phones or on games consoles. With this in mind, Internet Safety and knowing how to help protect children and young people online is essential knowledge. We have over 40 great online safety resources to help you understand the important issues surrounding: browsing, social media, cyber bullying, blogs, chat rooms, password and personal details security, etc. The resources also provide guidance on what you need to do in order to promote safe use of the Internet for our young people.
Our featured themes are made up of a mixture of teaching and investigation resources. They comprise of: information, facts, research, hands-on activities illustrations and video clips, as well as some detailed planning – each of which will effectively underpin our very engaging and wonderful topics.
The featured theme is updated monthly during the school year. Watch out for our great ‘Computing and Technology’ resources coming during the first week in November 2016!

It is envisaged that the 123HUB will grow to include thousands of educational websites (currently there are over 1400 resources to be found on the site). Rest assured that, each of the sites that we include, will have been carefully reviewed and rated according to their relevance to the new Primary Curriculum. You can trust in the quality of the sites published as they have been evaluated by members of our team, who are also qualified teachers.
123HUB is FREE for teachers and by registering; you can create your own planner and save useful sites for further reference. Registered teachers can also recommend their favourite websites for inclusion.
