There are ten new titles available with the £1 tokens that are freely given out in schools. Alternatively, children with a token, can have £1 off any other book that they wish. The World Book Day Book 2016 Tokens are valid from Monday 29 February–Sunday 27th March 2016.
There are free World Book Day 2016 toolkits available for Nursery, and Primary age ranges, giving teachers a host of ideas for things to make the day inspiring for children. These toolkits include assembly ideas, activity sheets, display materials and information about the free books available.
The World Book Day website is updated all through the year with lots of book related resources, it is not just for the World Book Day each year!
See the latest primary resources that have been created for use in the classroom. They include book-related activities, puzzles, extracts, discussion guides, teaching notes and more for you to download, print and use in your primary school.
There is also a range of video material available on the WBD TV Channels. Here you can see video clips such as Shirley Hughes talking about Whistling in the Dark; listening to Shirley talking would inspire anyone to read the book! It could also open up a massive discussion on the lives of people in World War Two. It certainly would help children understand about life here during the war.
If you have not visited this site for a while it is worth having another look!
Whilst you are at it, why not have a go at the 123ICT Create an E-Book Competition that we are running to coincide with World Book Day and possibly win some great prizes. Full details of the competition can be found on this blog here.
