Vasco da Gama (c.1460 - 1524)Vasco da Gama (c. 1460 – 1524) was a famous Portuguese explorer who discovered India! He opened the trade route between Europe and Asia and brought the vast array of spices from the East to people in Europe. The small c before the date he was born means circa, from the Latin word meaning about, in this context it means that no accurate date of his birth is available, he was born about 1460.
