Skoolbo, which was created by the inventor of Mathletics, provides an amazing 3D world which teaches English and maths skills.

Players race against two other randomly chosen on-line avatar players of a similar level whilst playing a game. The questions are either read out loud or displayed on the screen … they start off easy and get harder as the player succeeds.

Students create avatars to play as soon as they log in which acts as their identity. The teacher account allows the teacher to make logins for the class quickly and easily. Visit this page to see a trailer.

There is a download for PCs and Macs as well as apps for iPad and Android.

From the Skoolbo website:

“We are a team of dedicated educators and developers committed to creating technology to dramatically assist children’s learning.

Our goal is simple, to lift educational outcomes worldwide. Every element of our program reflects this goal.

Our team spans 4 continents and 7 countries and for the last two years we have been working on developing a game that will lift educational outcomes worldwide. The culmination of these efforts… Skoolbo Core Skills!

We believe that every child has the right to learn. That’s why Skoolbo Core Skills, the largest educational game ever, is absolutely FREE for children.

We also offer free versions of the parent and teacher dashboard, in addition to premium upgrades for parents and teachers who want even more from Skoolbo.

We want children to learn and have fun doing it, it’s as simple as that. Skoolbo Core Skills does not and will never include any advertising within the game or within the parent and teacher dashboards nor will we attempt to up-sell to children through the game.”
