Since September 2011, Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) have been upgrading their computers to Windows 7 and MS Office 2010 platforms. During the Easter Break 2012, Capita will be discontinuing their support of SIMS with MS Office 2003 and therefore OCC will be upgrading the SIMS Central servers to MS Office 2010 .
Schools are responsible for their own software licensing and from the start of the summer term 2012, schools will need the appropriate licence for MS Office 2010 on any computer that is used to access the SIMS Central server. The Council’s preferred supplier is Bytes Software Services and the e-mail address for Oxfordshire County Council’s Account Manager (Richard Read) is email@example.com. More information is available via the Oxfordshire Intranet.
If you are unsure of the implications for your staff computers then please mention this to your 123ICT consultant. We have done this on behalf of many of our schools already and will be happy to make the necessary arrangements for you.
