Roald Dahl’s official website has recently been overhauled and relaunched. The new site is a super, tablet friendly, design that, in the words of the great author himself promises: “Tremendous things are in store for you! Many wonderful surprises await you!”.
In addition to providing in depth information about the author, his books and the many wonderful characters that he has created, there is super section called ‘Create and Learn’ which provides lesson plans for teachers and writing tips for up-and-coming young authors. The site is bright, lively, easy to navigate and wonderfully detailed with Quinton Blake illustrations.
There is also an interesting blog which keeps you up to date with the latest Roald Dahl developments and the site also provides detailed information – including a virtual tour – of the Roald Dahl museum in Great Missenden The museum is as a great place to take children – I can personally vouch for it as being well worth a visit. In addition to being a super place for parents to take their Roald Dahl fans on a day out, the museum also caters for school visits and will provide various Literacy Workshops, in ‘Miss Honey’s’ classroom, which will help to inspire children and encourage them to write. For those that want it, the site also provides an on-line shop which sells books, DVDs, Quinton Blake artwork and lots of other illustrated merchandise.
This site is really worth a visit for all Roald Dahl fans and also for teachers who may be looking for new ways to encourage children to write within in the classroom.
