QuickStart Computing is a comprehensive CPD toolkit for primary teachers in the UK. It is a set of resources that addresses the computing subject knowledge and the pedagogy teachers need in order to plan, teach and assess the primary computing curriculum.
This website is a resource to help teachers deliver the new computing curriculum with confidence, it has been created in easy to access and follow sections, each section dealing with one aspect:
- Computational thinking
- Computer Networks
- Communication and Collaboration
- Productivity and Creativity
- Safe and Responsible use
- Running CPD sessions
Each section includes material that explores the subject matter, offers teaching guidance and planning advice together with practical activities to use in the classroom. Accompanying videos present concepts and ideas in an easy to understand way. The idea is that one person, the ICT Coordinator or a computing champion, will train then try out the resources etc in his or her classroom before providing CPD for the rest of the staff, thus sharing tried and tested materials.
The Training Road-Map:
Resources. All the resources are available to download here free of charge .
Local Hubs. It is possible to get resources and training in your school’s locality from your local hub. It is necessary to contact your local hub to find out the availability of training, if they have not already been in touch with our school.
Use these materials to acquire the necessary skills to make the transition from teaching ICT to teaching Computer Science and learn how to assess pupil progress using the new Progression Frameworks.
This is a really useful set of resources for all primary schools!
