E-mail to Santa. Practice letter writing and e-safety at the same time by writing to Santa, revising what is personal data, what you should include and what you should leave out of correspondence to be safe?
This activity is a great opportunity to think, once again about the digital literacy of keeping safe. It is so important in an increasingly on-line world to help children learn to keep personal information private.
“Santa’s Safety Tip: Always check with an adult before giving out any information about yourself on the Internet. You don’t have to enter your email address to get a reply from Email Santa! Santa also prefers that you don’t include your last name, street address or phone number in your letter — the info below is all he really needs to keep the “Naughty & Nice List” up-to-date!”
For whole classes it is great to have Santa reply rather than get a visual response to each child – there are teacher options at the bottom of the page which will allow you to arrange this! This is great fun and an e-safety revision opportunity as part of the bargain! Older children, in addition to simply use the template, can also write complete letters in the box provided and of course, they can also read all of the very long, wonderfully chatty responses which return from Santa very quickly.
