On the Learn and Make page of the web site there are step by step instructions on how to use Scratch. Even if you do not want to take part in the competition, the tutorials and ideas are wonderful as a basis for some coding sessions.

The Nominet Trust and Aardman Animations have teamed up, and we’re releasing a huge pile of characters, places and props from the Shaun the Sheep universe into the Scratch coding platform. We want you to make a game for us…and win some amazing prizes! The sensational, money-can’t-buy prizes that are up for grabs, include the following:
